"Randy Credico is an activist enigma. Whether its live stand up, Street actions or radio show of historical record Randy is tuned in to fighting injustice where ever it may be. Fearless and funny Randy and his team at Assange Countdown to freedom are owed a debt by many for their strong and steadfast reporting on the persecution of my brother Julian Assange. I feel lucky to have gotten to know Randy over the last few years and watched him one up himself week after week...can't wait to see who his next guest will be!" -- GABRIEL SHIPTON , Brother of Julian Assange

Dear friends of Assange

This is the moment that we must stand up for Assange. It is foolish to expect that the appeal that Assange’s lawyers are making to the British Supreme Court will prevent his extradition to the U.S. He will remain isolated in a high security prison, gravely ill. Yet he breached—not the law—but the veil hiding the truth of the murderous crimes of US imperialism. The first amendment be damned along with journalism that is not state controlled. The only thing that can save him is massive public outcry.

Randy has brought hundreds of voices to the fore though his years of weekly podcasts for WBAI and the Progressive Radio Network. That would be enough for a single person to accomplish, but he did and does more.  With his lifetime education in organizing he has brought people to the streets of New York and Washington DC.  His work for Assange is so critical that if it were to flag, I would all but lose hope in achieving freedom for Assange. We who support Assange must financially support Randy’s work to keep him going—to enable him to continue his brilliant work in support of Assange.  As a lawyer, I can tell you that hope for Assange now rests with  public support and there is no one who had worked harder or can do it better than Randy Credico.

Watch this 24-second endorsement from award winning journalist John Pilger:

TESTIMONIALS

Margaret Kunstler:
Randy Credico's show is one of the last vestiges of truth in journalism and the fight against injustice. His show and the special events and demos he has created have been the source of increased support for Assange in the US. He just kicked off season 7 with an unprecedented interview with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, human rights attorney Steve Doniger, filmmaker Nafira Murray,  and political satirist Lee Camp.  He needs your help to continue broadcasting truth to power and the government's ongoing persecution of Julian Assange and investigative journalism. The public has a right to know.

NILS MELZER UN Special Rapporteur on Torture:
Randy Credico’s podcast, “Julian Assange: Countdown to Freedom” is one of the very few US media resources still mustering up the courage and independence required to provide the American public with an objective assessment of Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange. A lifelong promoter of press freedom, justice and transparency, Credico refuses to give in to mainstream misinformation and defends longstanding American values of democracy and the rule of law, both of which are increasingly endangered by unfettered governmental overreach and a profoundly unwitting public.

CORNEL WEST
My dear brother and comrade Randy is one of the most courageous and consistent freedom fighters in American media! His work on Julian Assange is powerful and needful in these grim days!

STEFANIA MAURIZI, Il Fatto Quotidiano:
Randy Credico’s show has helped break the appalling silence of the US media on the abhorrent treatment of Julian Assange. I just want to confirm that I spent this afternoon listening your show on Julian Assange and your smart questions to John Pilger and Craig Murray: by addressing issues no mainstream media wants to address in the US, you are performing a valuable service. Important work: keep it up! Thank you.

JOHN PILGER:
Randy Credico has no peer. He is one of the finest interviewers and 'personalities' in the world of radio. What makes Randy so unusual is his brilliant unpredictability and mischief. He is one of the last of a dying yet desperately needed breed: the moral satirist. None of this is fake, because Randy is such a principled man, whose passion for fighting the good fight is undimmed. He is a man of the hour. I salute him.

THOMAS DRAKE NSA whistleblower:
Randy is one of the few left out there, who have continued to remain a fierce and persistent advocate shining a light on the case against Julian Assange — and who truly informs his listeners on its historical nature and implications for the future across a wide variety of guests from many walks of life. Through his podcast, Randy continues to bring the very latest news, commentary and analysis about the issues surrounding Julian Assange in the face of extraordinary circumstances that raise the most vital of questions regarding press freedom, publishing, the use, misuse and abuse of power, national security, the rule of law and government secrecy — as lightning rods for robust discussion and debate. I participated in a couple of interviews with him during his Live on the Fly Countdown to Freedom over the past several years and found him a great listener and questioner. We need his voice, his humor and his mirror more than ever now, during an age so full of disinformation, propaganda and platforming.

JESSELYN RADACK Whistleblower, Free Speech Attorney:
Randy Credico has done more to support #Assange, educate the public about his plight, and keep the spotlight on his case than anyone know. On his own time and on his own dime. He is also a stellar human, loyal friend, lifelong activist & funny as hell!

CRAIG MURRAY Ex UK diplomat:
Randy Credico’s journalistic output has been a beacon of truth in times when the truth has frequently been overwhelmed by power. That is unsurprising, as his entire life has been devoted to the struggle for social justice, and he has a proud record of achievement. His commitment  to freedom of speech and to public empowerment has led to him being an important pillar of understanding of the issues at stake and the procedural devices in play in the case of Julian Assange. As an interviewer, Randy is unfashionably ready to listen, and to let his subjects develop their arguments and explain what they have to say to his audience. Using his own erudition, modestly worn, he gently steers his guests down the most interesting avenues. I do urge you to do whatever you can to support the continued broadcasting of a voice that is as valuable as it is unique.

RALPH NADER:
Nobody interviews me the way you (Randy Credico) do..to be continued.

AFSHIN RATTANSI host of  Going Underground:
One of the greatest podcasts anywhere on earth - highlighting the plight of the world’s most famous publisher and journalist on earth.

MAX BLUMENTHAL Grayzone News:
Randy Credico's Countdown to Freedom podcasts are an essential archive of the history of the global grassroots struggle to free Julian Assange from his brutal captivity, and an exciting platform for the diverse array of activists, journalists and political renegades who have come together to fight for the freedom of a revolutionary publisher. We owe Randy an immense debt of gratitude for breaking the media's information blockade on one of the great injustices of our time, and for doing a few of his classic political impersonations on the side.

JOHN KIRIAKOU Author, CIA whistleblower:
Randy Credico is not just a journalist, an activist, and a comedian.  He’s also a dogged champion of human rights, civil rights, and civil liberties.  He’s a fearless defender of those who cannot defend themselves.  And he’s not afraid to take on the Big Boys—politicians, institutional powers, and the government.  I can’t think of a more dedicated friend to Julian Assange and to the cause of transparency and press freedom than Randy Credico.

ANGELA RICHTER German playwright, director, actress:
Randy Credico’s podcast has been a lonely, but bright torch of truth in the darkness of the US information blockade regarding the draconian persecution of Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange. It is because of his unique bravery, humour, and perseverance that Randy won over many artists, journalists and activists to help fight not only to save Julian Assange’s life, but the freedom of the press itself.

AARON MATE The Nation , Grayzone News:
It is vital that we all do our apart to ensure that Randy Credico’s podcast, "Julian Assange: Countdown to Freedom,” stays on the air. Amidst widespread US media silence and even hostility to Assange’s fate, Randy has broken the sound barrier to ensure that people around the world are informed about a story that impacts all of us. The Trump administration’s persecution of Assange will help determine not just a media publisher's right to expose classified information, but also the right of countries around the world to stand up to the kind of malfeasance that Assange and Wikileaks have exposed. With every episode, Randy helps us understand the importance of the Assange case and its latest developments with his consistently incisive commentary and stellar line-up of guests. I am particularly grateful for Randy’s show at a time when too many media colleagues have turned a blind eye to Assange’s ordeal, or even partook in the disingenuous attacks on him. Randy has also advocated for Assange even while dealing with the stress of a torrent of misinformation and vitriolic public attacks surrounding his role in the Mueller investigation. In standing up for Assange, Randy has stood up for us all, and by supporting "Julian Assange: Countdown to Freedom," we can do our part to make sure his vital work continues.

GREG PALAST investigative journalist, author:
The only reason Randy Credico does not have a  Congressional Medal of Honor is that Congress is dishonorable. Combining comedy and the news, which is the only reasonable response to the current clown show, Randy Lexus laugh at the horror show of our Political predicament. And bravo do you Randy for refusing to let us Forget the political imprisonment of journalist Julian Assange.

RAY MCGOVERN (VIPS):
Randy Credico is a huge credit (no pun intended) to the profession of journalism — fearless journalism -- the kind that, sadly, is rare today.  When Julian Assange, and those who knew why he was being persecuted, were shut out of the media, Randy walked right in where others feared to tread — right into the Ecuadorian embassy in London to learn from Julian first hand and be able to broadcast the truth about Julian at just one remove.  In my native Bronx, we call people like Randy “the real deal.” Would that the radio waves hosted a thousand such "real deals" — unafraid practitioners of real journalism, no matter the cost.

NATHAN FULLER director Courage Foundation:
Because WikiLeaks' revelations have shed light on so many different activist struggles -- climate change, trade deals, torture, the military industrial complex -- the fight to defend Julian Assange is about far more than one journalist. It's about all of us, every person's right to know what our government is doing in secret. Randy Credico is drawing that impact out and increasing its power, episode by episode, by bringing together an incredible array of disparate, important voices to speak out about why WikiLeaks matters to them and why they support Julian Assange. In addition to providing continuous updates on Assange's legal developments, Randy speaks with journalists, lawyers, activists, historians, professors and politicians. His breadth of knowledge and reach makes him a vital player in this fight, and it makes his podcast an ongoing testament to Assange's impact and the importance of his defense.

ANYA PARAMPIL Grayzone:
At a time when many journalists and activists seem to have forgotten about the importance of Julian Assange, Randy Credico makes sure we have a constant stream of current information regarding his trial and struggle in prison. Randy is a legendary freedom fighter, someone whose commitment to justice has actually made a tangible difference in people's lives-- his work on the Assange trial continues this legacy. I am so deeply grateful for Randy and his show because he keeps us informed and laughing, always.
